Born in Dale, S.C., to the late Robert and Virginia Bailey Maxwell. He was the beloved husband of Martha Maxwell. Mr. Maxwell was a member of Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church where he had served on the Administrative Board and had served as a Deacon of the church. He is survived by his wife of the home, two sons, Nathaniel Maxwell of Charleston, Earl Maxwell of Summerville, five daughters, Virginia Ivery, Lynette Harris, Gloria Loney, all of Charleston, Ernestine Manigault of San Antonio, Texas, and Anna Maxwell of Houston, Texas, two brothers, Frank Maxwell of Dale, S.C., Eddie Maxwell of Miami, Fla., one sister, Mary Green of Dale, S.C. Mr. Maxwell was also survived by 12 grandchildren and one great grandchild. The family will receive friends Wednesday, May 30, from 7 to 8 p.m., at Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be Thursday, May 31, at 1 p.m., at Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church, burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Mr. Maxwell will lie in state in the church one hour prior to the service. CREMATION CENTER OF CHARLESTON, 11 Cunnington Ave., is serving the Maxwell Family. 722-2555.
