Graveside services will be held at Highland Memory Gardens, Saturday morning, July 21, 2001, at 10 o'clock. Friends may call at Parks Funeral Home, Summerville, on Friday evening from 6 to 9 p.m. Flowers accepted or memorials to MUSC Children's Hospital, 171 Ashley Ave., Charleston, S.C. 29425. Mr. Matthews was born September 10, 1935, in Robersonville, N.C., a son of the late Russell J. Matthews and Louise Pollard Matthews. He was a Transportation and Safety Instructor for Bulldog Highway Express and a USAF veteran, serving in Korea and Vietnam. Survivors include his wife of Summerville, Roberta Steward Matthews, three sons, Gary A. Matthews and Darrel S. Matthews, both of Summerville, and Donald D. Matthews of Cross, two brothers, Philip Matthews and Harvey Matthews, both of North Carolina, two sisters, Hazel Cliff and Beulah Kuln, both of North Carolina, and two grandsons, Ryan A. Matthews of Summerville and Donald D. Matthews, Jr., of Moncks Corner. ARRANGEMENTS BY PARKS FUNERAL HOME, SUMMERVILLE, S.C.
