Matta SLIDELL, La. - Richard L. "Richie" Matta, 57, a musician and entertainer, died at his home Sunday, July 8, 2001. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Jacob Schoen and Son, New Orleans. Graveside services will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday at Biloxi National Cemetery. Formerly a resident Beaufort, Mr. Matta was born in New Orleans, La. A Marine Corps veteran, he had two tours of duty in Vietnam. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars No. 8290, Lacomb, Miss., a former member of Krew of Pontchartrain, a member of New Orleans Tarpon Club and International Association of Fire Fighters and Police Association. He was an inductee in the Louisiana Music Hall of Fame.
