Burial will follow in the church cemetery, directed by the Andrews Chapel of MCKENZIE FUNERAL HOME.Visitation will be Saturday evening, July 28, 2001, at his residence.Mr. Martin was born October 30, 1948, in Lancaster County, a son of Samuel Sidney Martin, and Annie Elizabeth Burns Martin. He was a graduate of Williamsburg High School; served in the United States Army and the National Guards; was a Chemical engineer for 34 years; was a Deacon of the Antioch Pentecostal Holiness Church for 18 years; a member of the Spring Pond Pentecostal Holiness Church serving as the Vice President of the Men's Fellowship; a softball coach for the community church league for over 20 years. He was a dedicated husband and father, loving "pawpaw", and known and respected by all as a Christian example.He was predeceased by his father and brother-in-law, David Reed, Jr.Surviving are, his mother of Andrews; his wife, Susan Elizabeth R. Martin of Georgetown; two sons, Samuel Henry "Buddy" Martin, II, of Georgetown, and Christopher Kevin Martin and his wife, Crystal, of Georgetown; two grandsons, Christopher Kevin Martin, II, and Chandler Avory Martin, both of Georgetown; three brothers, Harry D. Martin and his wife, Patricia, of Andrews; George K. "Tootsie" Martin and his wife, Cheryl, of Andrews ; Joseph Leory "Bunk" Martin and his wife, Barbara, of Socastee; one step-brother, Martin Hartley of Seattle, Wash.; three sisters, Rutha Lee Martin of Fort Lawn, Annie Elizabeth "Monkie" M. Phillips and her husband, Ray, of Aynor, Myrtis Louise M. Simmons and her husband, Gerald, of Lawton, Okla.; five in-laws, Arthur L. Reed and his wife, Jimmie Faye, Edward E. "Gene" Reed and his wife Maritez, Keith M. Reed and his wife Sandra, James V. Reed and Richard M. Reed; 73 nephews and nieces.
