Martin, III, 72, a native of Charleston, S.C., died Saturday, July 28, 2001, at home. Funeral services will be held at PARKS FUNERAL HOME CHAPEL, Tuesday morning, July 31, 2001, at 11 o'clock. Burial will be held in Summerville Cemetery. Friends may call at Parks Funeral Home, Summerville, S.C., this Monday evening from 6 to 9 o'clock. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 5900 Core Road, Suite 504, North Charleston, S.C. 29406, or Hospice of Charleston, 3896 Leeds Ave., North Charleston, S.C. 29405. Mr. Martin was the son of the late Emma Mae Chassereau Martin and L.P. Martin, II. He was a retired Rigger Instructor with the Charleston Naval Shipyard for 36 years. Mr. Martin also served his country in the U.S. Air Force. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Surviving are four daughters, Beverly J. Smith and Lisa K. Wilson, both of Ridgeville, Debra L. Steverson of Summerville and Patricia V. Dodson of North Carolina; one son, Lemuel P. Martin, IV, of North Carolina; sister, Emma Leora Moore, of North Charleston; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandson. Arrangements by PARKS FUNERAL HOME, SUMMERVILLE, S.C.
