Dr. Charles D. Pratt officiating, assisted by the Rev. E.E. Vance and Evangelist Evelyn Pratt. Burial followed in the church cemetery. Mr. Lewis, 90, died July 9, 2001, at the Chester County Nursing Center. Born in Chester County on May 8, 1911, he was the son of the late Monroe Lewis and the late Rachel Hope Lewis. He was a retired mail carrier for Springs Industries and a retired staff member of Denton Funeral Home. He was a member and Deacon of Gethsemane Baptist Church, past worship maste of Acacia Masonic Lodge No. 32, past worthy patron of Bear Shabee Order of Eastern Star, past ex-ruler of Hall City Elks Lodge 570, past treasurer of the A.P.&B. Groud Lodge, and a member of the C.B.&A. Society. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and attended Chester County schools. Surviving are his wife, Lemon M. Lewis; and one sister, Mrs. Susie L. Brown of Chester.
