Kale, 61, of the Kale Research Center in Spartanburg, S.C., world renown chiropractic statesman and legend passed away at his estate on July 2, 2001, of natural causes. He sustained an injury to his heart in an auto accident five years ago. He was the son of the late Ulrich Hart and Frances Justice Kale. He attended Hardin High School, Charlotte, N.C., and graduated from Rutherford High School where he was a member of the Beta Club, graduating with honors. He attended the University of North Carolina and was a 1964 honor graduate of Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa. He was a member of Pi Tau Delta Honor Society. He was a member of Ingleside Baptist Church and he formerly served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher. He was a member of the South Carolina Chiropractic Association, the International Chiropractors Association and the Canadian Chiropractors Association. He was in private practice for 37 years and was a researcher, author, inventor, lecturer, pioneer of groups of doctors going to foreign countries. He was twice president of South Carolina Chiropractic Association and former chairman of S.C. Board of Examiners having received the highest degree of the state, the S.C. Chiropractor of the Year. He was also fellow of the International Chiropractor's Association, as well as the South Eastern United States Chiropractor of the Year; past S.C. Representative Assemblyman to the International Chiropractors Association, a State Constable and Kentucky Colonel. He was originator and consultant to the Kale Certification program serving over 1, 000 doctors in the U.S. and foreign countries. He was chairman of International Research Team in joint research with the University of Moldova with Parkinson's disease. He traveled extensively to Israel, Egypt, Japan, Romania, Russia, Germany, Argentina, as well as many other countries, presenting to these countries, Specific Chiropractic to heads of states and ministers of health, children's hospitals, orthopedic hospitals, schools for the deaf and blind and many other institutions. He received many distinguished awards from Life College. Dr. Kale was Chief of Staff and founder of the only 24 hour facility for Chiropractic in the world, the first intensive day care clinic in South Carolina and the first 24 hour in-patient care facility int he state of South Carolina licensed by DHEC (S.C. Board of Health). He has had extensive publications in most of the chiropractic journals and has ten free-standing clinics throughout North Carolina dn South Carolina and Russia. He has published over five books and many brochures and notes that have appeared internationally in periodicals. Dr. Kale is the world's leading authority in Upper Cervical Specific Chiropractic Knee-Chest Procedure. He has practiced this procedure longer than any man living and speaks world-wide on Dr. B.J. Palmer's Philosophy. He is pioneer of foreign mission trips, seeing massive amounts of patients, taking teams of doctors to foreign countries where more than two million patients have been seen. He served as a consultant in personal injuries and work related cases referred by attorneys and chiropractors in brain stem injury. He was chairman of Peer Review. He opened a Kale Chiropractic Clinic in Russia - the first ever. In 1993 he obtained a joint venture research with the Russian Medical Doctors at Research City on the "Brain Stem" Research. Dr. Kale was chairman of an international research team with other scientists conducting first-time nerve related experiments on the spine and spinal cord. He wrote a research paper on Rheumatoid Arthritis that was accepted for publication to the World Conference in Cairo, Egypt. He conducted residency certification on his work for post-graduate doctors around the world. He was the inventor of chiropractic equipment used internationally in chiropractic colleges. He was former member, Board of Advisor, North Greenville College, Tigersville, S.C.; past president of the Optimist Club and the Civitan Club of Spartanburg, S.C.; past member of Spartanburg Safety Council; past Boy Scout Commissioner; member of Lions Club. He was a volunteer to the nursing center and past president of Crosswind Pilot Association .
