Born in Burke County, Ga., on June 20, 1925, Bill spent most of his youth in Davisbora and Sandersville in Washington County, Ga. It was in Sandersville where he met his late wife, Roslyn Brown, with whom he shared 51 years of his life. Bill was retired from CSX Railroad, having begun his life as a railroad man with Atlantic Coast Line. Although he was retired, he remained a railroad man until the end, never missing out on any opportunity to spend time with other retirees talking about old times.After retiring, Bill became involved in Civic Organizations in North Charleston, S.C., his home of over 50 years. He was a member of the Exchange Club of North Charleston, S.C., his home of over 50 years. He was a member of the Exchange Club of North Charleston, the Civic Club of Wando Woods and the Citizens Advisory Committee of North Charleston. He and Roslyn had also been active members in Riverview Baptist Church where Bill was a deacon.Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Grady and Mattie Usry Holton and his wife Roslyn. He is survived by his four children, Charlene Gibson of Ladson, S.C., Kay Peters of Kerersbille, N.C., Bill Holton, Jr., of Canton, Ga., and Rose Collins of Midway, Ga.; four sisters, Bernice Gwin of Augusta, Vera Grant of Jonesboro, Polly Thompkins of Sandersville and Laverne Kinard of Macon; one brother, Bob Holton of Dunwoody. Eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.The relatives and friends of William Glenn Holton are invited to attend his funeral services, Sunday, July 22, 2001, in Riverview Baptist Church at 1 o'clock. Interment will be in Carolina Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at J. HENRY STUHR, INC., 2119 Dorchester Road, Saturday evening, from 6 until 8 o'clock.
