Bohrn, Recorder (The Post and Courier July 26, 2001) HENDERSON, Ralph Ralph "Buddy" Henderson, Jr., 65, of Charleston died Wednesday, July 25, at his residence. Born in Charleston to the late Ralph Lloyd and Jessie McKay Henderson. Mr. Henderson retired from Carolina Crawler Equipment and attended Grace United Methodist Church. Mr. Henderson graduated from Carlisle Military School and attended Clemson University . He was a member of the Mariner Lodge #2 and Scottish Rite. He was also past director and member of the Temple staff of the Omar Shrine Temple (Mt. Pleasant). He was honored as an invited member of the Royal Order of the Jesters, the Hundred Million Dollar Club, and the Kachina Club. Mr. Henderson was also a member of the Lowcountry Bilken Club, Elks Club, and Charleston Rifle Club. He loved the Lowcountry, evidenced by his role in saving Alge Island and as a founding member of the Lowcountry Open Land Trust. He was an avid boater and fisherman along Lowcountry tidal creeks and rivers. He delighted in sharing his love of bluegrass music with others and loved to pick a guitar and sing with friends. Mr. Henderson is survived by his wife, Carolyn Walter Henderson, seven step-children, 13 grandchildren, 11 nieces and nephews, a brother, Tommy F. Henderson of Lantana, Fla., and a sister, Dell Henderson Young of Lawrenceville, Ga. Memorial services will be held 10 a.m., Saturday, July 28, at Grace United Methodist Church. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to , Grace United Methodist Church, 1601 Sam Rittenburg Blvd., Charleston, S.C. 29407, or the Carolina Children's Charity, 811 St. Andrews Blvd. 29407.
