Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, June 28, at Mills-Harrelson Cemetery, with Rev. Ted Papsis officiating the services will be directed by COX-COLLINS FUNERAL HOME. Mr. Harrelson was born July 3, 1944, in Horry County, a son of the late Troy Worth Harrelson and the late Ruby Lee Johnson Harrelson Stroud. Mr. Harrelson was an artist. He was a member of Green Sea Baptist Church. Artist and writer, Thomas Harrelson, son of a rural farmer, was born in Horry County. As a self-taught artist, Mr. Harrelson is known around the world as one of the most detailed, fastest artists of acrylic land and sea scapes. Mr. Harrelson spent may years in Atlanta, Ga., as an artist and entrepreneur. He conducted classes for over 7,000 students around the world. He used his God-given talents to bring fulfillment, unforgettable lifetime memories, and laughter to his students in their two-hour sessions. His unique style has empowered students with a relaxed understanding of self confidence and desire to continue painting. Students are surprised at the discovery of their hidden talents surfacing with their first works. In 1993, Mr. Harrelson returned to the Horry County-Loris area to care for his ailing parents who have since deceased. In 1999, Mr. Harrelson and Estelle Stanley, a retired school teacher established Heritage Village on the property owned by Stanley. Heritage Village was born from a desire of Mr. Harrelson's to bring culture to the rural area of the county, where artists, Craftmen and collectors could blend with junque dealers to create, display and sell their goods and only be charged a percentage for goods sold. Surviving Mr. Harrelson are, a daughter, Becky Fulmer of Columbia; three brothers, Billy Harrelson of Nichols, Worth Harrelson of Nichols and Tony Harrelson of Mullins; and four sisters, Frances Elliott of Nichols, Joyce Ward of Whiteville, N.C ., Sue Elliott of Mt. Pleasant and Carolyn Etheridge of Whiteville, N.C. Memorials may be made to the Thomas R. Harrelson Memorial Fund, P.O. box 613, Mullins, S.C. 29574.
