(The Post and Courier June 28, 2001) GRANT, Albertha Mrs. Albertha Telfare Grant, wife of the late Rev. C.A. Grant, Jr., entered into eternal rest at her residence on June 26, 2001. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her home-going service at Francis Brown A.M.E. Church, 9-11 Ashe St., on June 30, 2001, at 11 a.m. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Ashley Phosphate Road. Born June 2, 1918, in Charleston County, Mrs. Grant was the daughter of the late Rachel Washington Telfare and Willis Telfare, Sr. She was a member of Francis Brown A.M.E. Church and served on Stewardess Board #1, the Missionary Society, and the Pulpit Aid Board. Surviving Mrs. Grant are five daughters, Rachel G. Grant and Etta D. Ferguson of North Charleston, Marva Dell Ivey and Margaret G. Carter of Atlanta, Ga., Dr. Lucinda Grant-Griffin of Albany, N.Y.; one son, Charles Bobby Grant of North Charleston; two sisters, Ethel Randolph of Philadelphia, Pa., and Annabelle Lazenbury of North Charleston; one brother, Willis Telfare, Jr., of Boston, Mass., a step-mother, Etta Green Telfare of North Charleston; one uncle, Edward Shaw of Alvin; one daughter-in-law, Gwendolyn Grant; two sons-in-law, Albert Mitchell and Rudolph Ferguson; 14 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; nieces, nephews; devoted friends, Mrs. Louisa J. Washington and Mrs. Willia Mae Salters Mitchell; Godchild, Charles Anderson; and family friends, Ronald Sutton and John Powell. No wake services will be held.
