A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, June 1, 2001, in the Evergreen Cemetery, Charlotte, directed by AVINGER FUNERAL HOME, Holly Hill. Mr. Garner was born in Union, S.C., a son of the late Edwin Maurice Garner, Sr., and Mary Klugh Garner. He was a graduate of the University of North Carolina and an Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a retired insurance underwriter with Marshall General Agency of Charlotte, N.C., and Auto Owners Insurance Agency of Charlotte, N.C. He was a member of Hawthorne Lane United Methodist Church of Charlotte, N.C. Surviving are two sisters, Mary G. Tindal of Holly Hill, S.C., and Caroline G. McLaughlin of Davidson, N.C., and seven nieces. Memorials may be made to Hawthorne Lane UMC, 501 Hawthorne Lane, Charlotte, N.C. 28204.
