Mr. Gamble was born in Henry, S.C., a son of the late Thomas David Gamble, Sr., and Mrs. Maude Vause Wilson Gamble. He was a graduate of Indiantown High School and was the retired owner of Williamsburg Oil Co. in Kingstree. During W.W.II, he served in the Army as a platoon leader in the 36th Infantry Division. He was a retired firefighter with the Kingstree Fire Dept., and was one of the founders and a retired Chief of the Kingstree Rural Fire Dept. Mr. Gamble was a member of and Deacon of Williamsburg Presbyterian Church, a Mason, a member of the V.F.W. and American Legion, and had served as president of Sportsmen's Hunting Club since 1985. Surviving, his wife, Mrs. Belver Scott Gamble, one son, Thomas D. Gamble, III, of Nesmith, two daughters, Eva Towne G. Saltik of Marietta, Ga., and Elizabeth Anne G. Cusack of Indiantown, one brother, Harry Gamble of Hemingway, one sister, Margie Shepard of Washington, N.C., five grandchildren, Holly Gamble, Monique Saltik, Ryan Saltik, and Hailey Wilson, one great-grandchild, Evie Jane Wilson. Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Wednesday in the Williamsburg Presbyterian Church, conducted by Rev. Samuel Shumate. Burial will be in Kingstree Memorial Gardens, directed by WILLIAMSBURG FUNERAL HOME. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m., Tuesday, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Williamsburg Presbyterian Church Building Fund or to the National W.W.II memorial fund.
