YEMASSEE - Sam "Buck" Ferguson, 87, of Roadside community, died 
Monday, July 2, 2001, in Oakwood Nursing Center, Walterboro. Young 
Funeral Home, Yemassee, is in charge.

Sam "Buck" Ferguson, 88, of Yemassee died Friday, July 1, 2001, in the 
Oakwood Nursing Center, Walterboro. Services will be at 3 p.m. Friday 
in Mt. Nebo Baptist Church, Yemassee, with burial in the church 
cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight in the 
chapel of Young Funeral Home. Mr. Ferguson was born June 9, 1913, in 
Colleton County and was a son of Joe and Lucy Chisolm Ferguson. He 
attended local public schools and was employed as a groomer for the 
Bellmoore Equitation Clubhouse in New York. He was later employed by 
the Big Survey Plantation in Yemassee and was a landscaper for 
Wildwood Nursery in Hendersonville. He was a member of Mt. Nebo 
Baptist Church. Survivors include two adopted sons, CSM Harry Ferguson 
of Columbia and Herbert C. Brown of Yemassee; a sister, Carrie Mae 
Cuspert of Yemassee; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
