Mrs. Fender was born November 20, 1918, in Islandton, SC, a daughter of John W. and Lousie Thomas Drawdy. She graduated from Aurora University in Illinois and received her masters degree from the Citadel. Mrs. Fender retired from St. Andrew's High School where she taught for many years. She was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. A memorial service will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to a charity of one's choice. Mrs. Fender is survived by her husband of 60 years; two sons, David Hansford Fender of Charleston, and James Stephen Fender of Atlanta, GA., a daughter, Martha Elizabeth Fender of Charleston, three grandchildren, Richard A. Fender, Dawn Fender Bishop and Christopher James Fender, as well as a great granddaughter, Taylor Macrae Bishop, all of Charleston. She was preceded in death by a son, Matthew William Fender.
