Mr. Dupree was born in Berkley County, June 25, 1931, a son of the late Redmond and Mary Taylor Dupree. He had retired from the South Carolina Highway Patrol after 41 years of service as a Lieutenant, and also served as Sheriff of Hampton County from 1996 through 1999. He was a member of the Evergreen Masonic Lodge, and the Omar Shrine Club in Charleston. He was active with the South Carolina Troopers Association, the South Carolina Sheriff's Association and the South Carolina Law Enforcement Officers Association. He was a member of the Hampton First Baptist Church, and was an Army veteran. Surviving are, one daughter, Darlene D. Fuller of Hollywood, S.C.; one brother, Byron Dupree of Moncks Corner; four sisters, Stella Duke of Goose Creek, Ann Mitchum of North Charleston, Jet Deal of Summerville, and Pat Johnson of Weaver, Ala. There are two grandchildren, Zackary and Chance Fuller of Hollywood. He was married to the late Alma B. Dupree. Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, in the Hampton First Baptist Church, conducted by Dr. Greg Clements, with burial in the Lawtonville Cemetery in Estill directed by PEEPLES-RHODEN FUNERAL HOME IN HAMPTON. Friends may call at the Chapel in Hampton from 7 to 9 p.m., Tuesday, and Wednesday morning until 10 a.m., when the casket will be placed in the church prior to services.
