Derrick, 79, will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, July 13, 2001, at Bethel Lutheran Church, White Rock, with burial in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends form 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, July 12, 2001, at CAUGHMAN-HARMAN FUNERAL HOME, IRMO/ST. ANDREWS CHAPEL, and following the service in the fellowship hall. Memorials may be made to Bethel Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 367, White Rock, S.C. 29177, or Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 1237 Gadsden St. Columbia, S.C. 29201. Mrs. Derrick died Wednesday, July 11, 2001. Born in Hemingway, S.C., she was the daughter of the late Archie E. and Healon Miller Barnhill. She was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church. Mrs. Derrick was retired from General Electric and was a member of GE-MEPCO Retirees. Surviving are her husband of 60 years, William H. Derrick of Columbia; son and daughter-in-law, Bennie A. and Lib Derrick of Chapin; daughters and sons-in-law, Mildred and Doyle Brown of Sugar Land, Texas, and Sarah and Jim Cheesman of Columbus, Ohio; grandchildren, Laura Newman of Southern Pines, N.C.; Ginger McDonald of Carthage, N.C.; Dina Griffin of Sugar Land, Texas, and Jason Brown of Stanford, Calif.; Troy Cheesman and Drew Cheesman of Columbus, Ohio; sister-in-law, Thelma O. Derrick of White Rock; half-brother, Vernie Barnhill of Georgetown; great-grandchildren, Taylor Newman and Stephen Griffin; brother, D. D. Barnhill of Andrews; sister, Maude Hunt of Columbia and Ella Lou Powell of Hemingway. Mrs. Derrick was preceded in death by a brother, Archie E. Barnhill, Jr.; sister, Agnes Frye and granddaughter, Karen Brown.
