Pleasant, S.C., died Wednesday, July 25, 2001, in a local hospital. The relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. Everett Lee Cottle are invited to attend the Memorial Services of the former Friday, July 27, 2001, in J. HENRY STUHR, INC., MT. PLEASANT CHAPEL, at 3 o'clock. Mr. Cottle was born in Ludlow, Ill., a son of Bruce and Melissa C. Cottle. He retired from Amoco Chemicals as a Superintendent. He was an U.S. Marine Corps Veteran. He served in South Pacific, World War II, and also served on the U.S.S. Franklin. He was a member of VFW Post 3137, Isle of Palms and the Charleston Elks Club. Mr. Cottle is survived by his wife, Betty Sessions Cottle of Mt. Pleasant, S.C., two sons, Kevin L. Cottle of Joliet, Ill., and Wesley R. Cottle of Minooka, Ill., and three daughters; Cathy Scroggins of Winston Salem, N.C., Deborah A. Rich of Santa Maria, Calif., and Tammy C. Erickson of Mt. Pleasant, S.C., three step-daughters, Colleen Emily Gordon of Summerville, S.C., Karen Byrd of Virginia Beach, Va., and Angela Marie Compton of Pickens, S.C., one brother, Charles Cottle of Greenfield, Ind., two sisters, Dorothy Gullett of Watseka, Ill., and Eva Knoblock of Texas, and 15 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Terry Jason Cottle. Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association of South Carolina, Coastal Branch, 1941 Savage Road, Suite 200-A, Charleston, S.C. 29407.
