Born in Stilson, Ga., he was the son of Henry and Maggie Sherrod Cone. Educated in the schools of Bullock County, Ga., Mr. Cone owned and operated Cone's Grocery Store in Charleston for many years and was a lifetime member of the Independent Grocers Association. He attended Pinecrest Baptist Church and was a member of Woodmen of the World. Funeral Services will be held Monday, July 30, 2001, at MCALISTER-SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 150 Wentworth St., Charleston, 722-8371. Visitation will be Sunday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. Surviving are his wife Frances G. "Jerry" Cone, a son Rick Cone, Jr., one daughter, Paula C. Meadows and husband Jim of Charleston, two brothers, Henry & Hazel Cone of Beach Island, S.C., and Howard and Pat Cone of Macone, Ga., one sister, Lois Knotts and her husband Russell of Beaufort. He had one granddaughter, Sara Meadows of Leland, N.C. Visitation will be Sunday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. Donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
