J.H. McFarland, pastor, officiating and the Rev. Edward Cook delivering the eulogy. The Rev. David Rice and the Rev. William Hayes assisted. Burial was in the church cemetery with King’s Funeral Home of Great Falls in charge. Mr. Caldwell died Thursday, July 12, 2001 at Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte, N.C. He was 49. Born on Sept. 17, 1951 in Lancaster County, he was a son of the late Hattie Caldwell Witherspoon and the Rev. Wallace Gladden. He was the step-son of Richard Witherspoon Sr. of Great Falls and Mary Gladden of Richburg. Mr. Caldwell joined Pine Grove Baptist Church at an early age. He attended the schools of Great Falls and was formerly employed by the Chester County Sheriff’s Department. He retired from the Great Falls Police Department. Survivors include his wife, Josephine Boulware Caldwell of the home; a son, Michael Fredrick Caldwell of Great Falls; two daughters, Patricia C. (Matthew) Rice of Great Falls and Kimberly Caldwell of the home; step-father, Richard Witherspoon Sr. of Great Falls; step-mother, Mary Gladden of Richburg; eight brothers, Richard Witherspoon Jr. of Great Falls, Albert Witherspoon of Columbia, Waldo Gladden, Willie Ike Gladden and Charles Gladden, all of Richburg; James Gladden of Englewood, N.J., John F. (Virginia) Gladden of Rock Hill, and Bobby Ray Gladden of Kershaw; eight sisters, Bernice Culp (Willie) Graham, Mary Sue Caldwell, Laura Patterson, and Ruby Crawford, all of Great Falls; Carrie Tyson of Westville, N.J., Nancy (Mack) Suber of Linden, N.J., Ella J.
