Born in Detroit , Michigan, she was the daughter of James Otis and Freddie Whitman Phillips. She was a childcare provider and attended Souls Harbor Baptist Church. In addition to her husband, survivors include two sons, Larry Daniel Broome of Seneca, and Donald Allen Broome of Westminster; a daughter, Debbie Denise Sherman of Westminster; a step-mother, Opal Jean Phillips of Westminster; three brothers, Hakel Long, and Randall, Ralph and Keith Phillips, all of Westminster; four sisters, Nadine McKee of Charlotte, North Carolina, Kathy Owens, Myra Smith, and Mary McClure, all of Westminster; and five grandchildren, LeAnn, Avery and Tristian Broome, Bradley and Tyler Sherman. Funeral services were held Friday, June 29 at Souls Harbor Baptist Church, conducted by the Reverends Tom Watson and Ralph Bagwell. Burial followed in Heritage Memorial Gardens. Sandifer Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
