Britton, age 64, died Saturday, June 30, 2001, in a Florence hospital. Funeral services will be Monday, 3 p.m., in the First Church of God with interment following in Grove Hill Cemetery directed by BELK FUNERAL HOME.Mr. Britton was born in Williamsburg County, son of the late William L. and Eunice Gordon Britton. He had retired from CSX Transportation and was a member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church where he was treasurer, lay leader and member of the choir.Surviving are his wife, Sylvia C. Britton of Darlington; his daughter, Mrs. Karl (Donna) Kimball of Lenoir, N.C., and his son, James D. "Davy" (Sharon) Britton, II, of Darlinton; also three grandchildren, Bill Britton, Hunter Britton and Chase Kimball; one brother, Lawrence (Scarlett) Britton of Columbia.The family will receive friends Sunday, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
