Department of Public Transportation, died Monday, July 16, 2001. The funeral will be 1 p.m., Thursday, July 19, 2001, in St. John A.M.E. Church, Cottageville. Burial will be in Heavenly Rest Memorial Cemetery, Walterboro. Mr. Bowman was born in Colleton County and was the son of John Bowman, Sr., and Rosa Lee Bowman. He attended the public schools in Colleton County. He was a member of St. John A.M.E. Church and served as a class lead er, a member of the gospel and mal chorus and steward. He was also a Past Master of Widowmite Masonic Lodge #475. Surviving are, his wife, Virley P. Bowman; a daughter, Stephanie Bowman; one son, Sylvester Bowman; an adopted son, Dwayne Newton; all of Walterboro, S.C.; five brothers, Jackie Bowman, Palmer Bowman, William Bowman, and Dave Bowman; all of Walterboro, and Amos Bowman, New York; two sisters, Elizabeth Seares, and Beatrice Goodwine, both of New York, and three grandchildren; one daughter-in-law, Cindy Bowman, Walterboro.
