TITLE: William Walton Bishop SOURCE: The Post and Courier, July 22, 2001 SUBMITTED BY: The Post and Courier FORMATTED BY: Kim Grissom, July 2001 *********************************************************************************************** Mr. William Walton Bishop, Sr., 70, of 289 Christiana Estates in Allendale, died Friday in an Augusta, Ga., hospital after an extended illness.Born February 8, 1931, in Hampton County, S.C., he was the son of the late Oran Holbrook Bishop and Rita Priester Bishop. He was a retired salesman, and had also retired after 30 years of service as a Chief Warrant Officer from the South Carolina National Guard. Mr. Bishop was a founding member of the Allendale Academy and had served as Chariman of the Academy Board of Directors. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Allendale where he had been an RA Director, Sunday School Teacher, Adult Leader and had also served as Deacon.Mr. Bishop is survived by his wife, Virginia Belger Bishop of the home; three sons, Billy Bishop and wife, Linda of Poquoson, Va., Randy Bishop and wife, Tamra of Brunson and Barry Bishop of Atlanta, Ga.; two daughters, Janice Zissette of Fairfax, and Sandra Polk and husband, Dickie, of Hampton. There are eight grandchildren.Funeral services will be held Monday morning at 11 a.m., at the First Baptist Church of Allendale with burial following in Hickory Grove Cemetery, directed by PEEPLES-RHODEN FUNERAL HOME OF HAMPTON. Rev. Tom White and Rev. David Deming will be the officiating ministers.
