BENTON, William Entered into eternal rest on the morning of May 29, 2001, William Edward Benton, 
husband of Carolyn "Lyn" Brandt Benton. Residence, Wadmalwaw Island, S.C. The relatives and 
friends of Mr. and Mrs. William Benton are invited to attend the funeral services of the former 
in J. HENRY STUHR, INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL, Thursday afternoon, May 31, 2001, at 3 o'clock. 
Interment, Riverview Memorial Park. Friends may call at J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., West Ashley Chapel,
Wednesday from 5 until 8 o'clock. Mr. Benton was born in Charleston, S.C., the son of Thomas 
Edward Benton and Grace Daley Benton Whitfield. He was the retired manager of Johns Island 
Beverage. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church. He was a member of Fidelity Lodge #304, 
the Scottish Rite, and the Omar Shrine. He graduated from the High School of Charleston. 
Surviving are his wife, Lyn Benton of Wadmalaw Island, S.C.; his mother, Grace Whitfield of 
Charleston; one daughter, Melissa Catherine Benton of Wadmalaw Island, S.C.; one sister, Joann 
E. Correll of Columbia, S.C.; two half-sisters. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be 
made to the American Cancer Society, Charleston County Unit, 267 Calhoun St., Charleston, S.C.
