Services will be at 4 p.m. today at Sauls Funeral Home, Ridgeland, with burial in Indian Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, Bluffton. Mr. Benton was born March 1, 1908, in Colleton County, a son of William Silvester and Hattie Benton. He was a carpenter for Lloyd-Graves. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Surviving are his wife, Bertha Benton of Hardeeville; two sons, John David Benton of Hilton Head Island and Albert Eugene Benton of Hardeeville; three daughters, Evelyn Benton Crum of Pooler, Ga., Sarah M. Woods of Hardeeville and Rebecca L.
