KINGSTREE - Mrs. Mattie Scott Baxley, 87, widow of Alva D. Baxley, 
died Saturday at her residence. Mrs. Baxley was born in Williamsburg 
County, a daughter of the late James Cannie Scott and Blanche Tisdale 
Scott. She was a graduate of Williamsburg Co. Schools and was a 
housewife. Mrs. Baxley was a member of Central Presbyterian Church.
Surviving, three daughters, Elwood Wiggins and Patsy Davis, both of 
Georgetown, and Libby Baxley of Kingstree; one son, Leray Baxley of 
Kingstree; three sisters, Opal S. Tisdale, Alestine Scott and Zeloree 
S. Lazzari, all of Kingstree; two brothers, Atwood Scott and Dale 
Scott, both of Kingstree; three grandchildren and four 
great-grandchildren.Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Monday, in 
Tisdale Cemetery, directed by WILLIAMSBURG FUNERAL HOME. The family 
will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m., Sunday, at the funeral home. 
Memorials may be made to Tisdale Cemetery Fund. (The Post and Courier
