He was born in Georgetown County, March 21, 1913. He was the son of the late Daniel Murrell and Bessie Prevatte Bath. He was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church of Florence, S.C., where he served as the trustee and as an officer of the Sunday School. Mr. Bath was a retired Florence business man. He served 12 years on the Florence County Council, serving the last years as chairman. He served on the boards of the South Carolina Consumer Finance Association, the directors of S.C. County officials, and the Dep. of Social Services. He also served on the area Manpower Commission Board under Governor West and Governor Edwards. Graveside services for Mr. bath will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, July 10, 2001, at Mount Hope Cemetery in Florence, S.C. Rev. William Curtis and Dr. Jimmie Harley will officiate. BULLOCK FUNERAL HOME of Sumter, S.C., is in charge of arrangements. Surviving are his wife, Valerie Morris Bath, who resides at national Healthcare in Sumter, S.C., a daughter, Mrs. James Gee and her husband of Sumter; two sisters, Mrs. Betty Thompson of Charleston, S.C., and Mrs. Jackie England of Orlando, Fla., one brother, Harold Bath of Andrews, S.C., and two grandchildren, Julia Gee Muldrow of Sumter, and Gene Gee of Blowing Rock, N.C. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church, 300 S. Irby St., Florence, S.C. 29501.
