Zion Church with the Rev. W.H. Woods officiating and the Revs. Angela Boyd, Ellen Fewell and Thomas Jones assisting. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mr. Austin, 54, died Friday, July 6, 2001 at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill. Born Dec. 19, 1946 in York County, he was the son of Pauline Austin. He attended York County public schools and was a former employee of Jabo Construction Co. of Rock Hill. He was a member of Rehoboth A.M.E. Zion Church. Survivors include his wife, Essie R. Austin; three sons, Travis Austin and Gary Caldwell of Rock Hill and Harvey Anthony of Japan; three daughters, Judy Anthony and Elaine Caldwell of Rock Hill and Barbara Austin of Charlotte; his mother, Pauline Austin of Rock Hill; two brothers, William Austin and James Prince Austin of Rock Hill; a sister, Mary Minton of Rock Hill and 15 grandchildren. The family will receive friends at the residence. The body may be viewed from 9 to 11 a.m. on Friday at Kings Funeral Home, 135 Cemetery St., Chester. The body will be placed in the church at noon on Friday. Kings Funeral Home in Chester is in charge.
