He was born in Madison, the son of the late Jonah and Elizabeth Adams Ramey. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean Conflict, and a retired bookkeeper. He is survived by his wife, Betty Lynch Ramey of the home; two sons, Robert Buchanan of Atlanta, Ga., and Jim Buchanan of Raleigh, N.C.; one daughter, Susan Haley of Atlanta, Ga.; two brothers, Joel Ramey and Harold Ramey, both of Walhalla; one sister, Lula Mae Marcengill of Westminster; a nephew, Michael Ramey of Walhalla; and six grandchildren, Courtney and Charles Allen and Kelsey Buchanan, all of Seneca, Caitlin Buchanan of Atlanta, Ga., and Robert and Jessica Buchanan, both of Raleigh, N.C. Funeral services will be conducted this morning at 11:30 a.m. at Oconee Memorial Park Mausoleum, with the Rev. Frank Knight and Dr. Von Reynolds officiating. Burial will follow. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Brown-Oglesby Funeral Home of Seneca, prior to the service. The family requests that memorials be made to Hospice of the Foothills, 390 Keowee School Road, Seneca, SC 29672.
