Winter, died Wednesday, August 1, 2001, at Beaufort Memorial Hospital. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Fripp Island Chapel. Mrs. Winter was born Nov. 6, 1918, in Hollidaysburg, Pa., a daughter of John and Marjorie Sprecher Woodcock. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Beaufort and was a founding board member of Boys and Girl's Club of Beaufort. She was a founder of Fripp Island Audubon Society and was a regular contributor of current information about birds to The Trawler, the Fripp Island newspaper. Survivors include her husband, William E. Winter of Fripp Island; two daughters, Elizabeth Crower of Midland, Mich., and Barbara Park of Greenwood; a son, William E. Winter Jr. of Gaffney; a brother, John Woodcock of Altoona, Pa.; and eight grandchildren. The family suggests that memorial contributions may be made to Fripp Island Community Center, 205 Tarpon Blvd., Fripp Island, SC 29920. Copeland Funeral Home, Beaufort, is in charge.
