Graveside services, with full military honors, were Monday in Beaufort National Cemetery. Mr. Spencer was born May 27, 1930, in Boston, Mass., a son of Herbert V. Spencer and Mary Agnes Kenney Spencer. Mr. Spencer was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and a retired security officer with Hilton Head Plantation Security. He was of the Catholic faith. He was a member of the AMVETS and the Slater Hunting Club. Surviving are his wife; four sons, William "Huck" Spencer Jr. of Dale, Jerry Spencer and Rusty Spencer of Lobeco, and Chris Spencer of Ridgeland; three daughters, Julia Spencer of Newberry, Teresa Denton of Ridgeland and Mary Mansfield of Grays Hill; two brothers, Eddie Spencer of Boston, Mass., and Kenneth "Chickie" Spencer of Chelsea, Mass.; 15 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Anderson Funeral Home, Beaufort, is in charge.
