(The Beaufort Gazette August 1, 2001) RUTLEDGE, Randy YEMASSEE, S.C. - Randy Rutledge, 49, of the Roadside Community, died Tuesday, July 31, in a Walterboro hospital. A native of Colleton County, S.C., he attended the Colleton County Schools graduating from Walterboro High School, Walterboro, S.C., Class of 1980. He was employed with the Artistic Landscaping Company, of Hilton Head Island, S.C. He was an avid baseball player, having played with several local teams and was the coach for the little league baseball team of Jonesville/Roadside Community. Survivors are, his wife, Blossom C. Rutledge, Yemassee, S.C.; two sons, Randy and Antonio Rutledge, both of Yemassee, S.C.; his father, Matthew Rutledge, Yemassee, S.C.; six brother, Matthew Rutledge, Jr., Florida, Sam Rutledge, Nathaniel Rutledge, and Talvin Rutledge, all of Yemassee, S.C., Rudolph Williams, Raleigh, N.C., and Randolph Williams, Florida; three sisters, Altamese Washington, Janet Rutledge, and Rene Rutledge, all of Yemassee, S.C.; numerous aunts, uncles, other relatives. Visitation will be Friday evening, 7 to 9 p.m., in the Chapel of YOUNG FUNERAL HOME, Yemassee, S.C. Funeral services, Saturday, 2 p.m., in the Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church, Yemassee, S.C., with burial in the church cemetery. Mr. Rutledge was born March 18, 1962, in Colleton County, a son of Matthew Rutledge and Wilhemenia Roberts Rutledge. He attended Colleton County schools. He was a 1980 graduate of Walterboro High School. He was employed with Artistic Landscaping Co. of Hilton Head.
