David Alexander Poplin, Jr., 89, of Moncks Corner, a retired shipfitter
with the Charleston Naval Shipyard, died Friday at his residence. The 
funeral will be at 11 a.m., Monday, at Russell Funeral Chapel. Burial 
will be private.Mr. Poplin was born August 26, 1911, in Charleston, 
S.C., a son of David Alexander Poplin, Sr., and Alice Bailey Poplin. 
He was a member of the Moncks Corner Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Surviving are his wife, Sadie Shaw Seay Poplin of Moncks Corner; two 
sons, David A. Poplin, III, of Kissimmee, Fla.; Larry E. Poplin of 
Moncks Corner; daughter, Sandra Carolyn Squires of Bristol, Wisc.; two
step-sons, Charles M. Seay, Sr., and Robert S. Seay, both of 
Summerville; step-daughter, Sadie O'Dell Taylor of Middleburg, Fla.; 
brother, George A. Poplin of Elloree; 23 grandchildren; several 
great-grandchildren.Friends may call at RUSSELL FUNERAL CHAPEL, Moncks 
Corner, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., Sunday evening. In lieu of flowers, 
memorials may be made to Palmetto Health Hopsice, P.O. Box 50820, 
Summerville, S.C. 29485. Mr. Poplin was preceded in death by a daughter
