Ruth Agnes Beckwith Olson
HILTON HEAD ISLAND - Ruth Agnes Beckwith Olson, 96, died Saturday, 
July 28, 2001, at Preston Health Center. A memorial service is planned 
at 11 a.m. Friday in the Ashley Wing, Preston Health Center. Mrs. 
Olson was born in Boston, Mass., a daughter of George Granville and 
Annie Tupper Beckwith. She was the wife of Roy C. Olson, former mayor 
of Sands Point, N.Y., for many years. She was active in her garden club
and in her church, Manhasset Congregational Church, Manhasset, N.Y. 
She moved from Sands Point to Hilton Head Island in 1997. She was 
preceded in death by her husband and a son, Roy C. Olson Jr. Survivors 
include a daughter, Natalie Holland of Masapiqua, N.Y.; a granddaughter
, Carter Beckwith Olson of Beaufort, four additional grandchildren and 
eight great-grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be made to 
Palmetto Health Hospice, P.O. Box 1857, Bluffton, SC 29910 Island 
Funeral Home, Hilton Head Island, is in charge.(The Beaufort Gazette
