PINELAND - Johnnie Holmes, 69, died Friday, Aug. 3, 2001, at his 
residence. Allen Funeral Home of Beaufort and Ridgeland is in charge.

Johnnie Holmes Jr.
GARNETT - Johnnie Holmes Jr., 69, died Friday, Aug. 3, 2001, at his 
residence in Garnett. The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m.
today in Allen Funeral Home. Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in 
King Branch Baptist Church. Mr. Holmes was born Sept. 15, 1931, in 
Garnett, a son of Johnnie and Manie Holmes. He was a member of St. Mark
AME Church of Scotia. He worked as a self-employed logger and later 
worked at Carswell Plantation. Surviving are his wife, Alma Holmes of 
Pineland; a stepdaughter, Addie Hamilton of Pineland; a sister, Carrie 
Scott of Pineland; eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
