Residence, Charleston, S.C. The relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral services in Ashley River Baptist Church, Saturday morning, August 4, 2001, at 11 o'clock. Interment, Live Oak Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at J. HENRY STUHR, INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL, Friday evening from 6 until 8 o'clock. Sarah was born in Toccoa, Ga., the daughter of Lonnie Daniel Gurley and Rachel Watkins Gurley. She was a member of Ashley River Baptist Church, where she taught five-year-old Sunday School class for 44 years. She was a member of the Women's Missionary Union. She enjoyed gardening and spending time with her grandchildren. She enjoyed traveling the North Georgia Mountains. Surviving are, one son, Jerry L. Broome of Charleston, S.C.; two daughters, Janie S. Broome and Carol Brunette-Rowland, both of Charleston, S.C.; one brother, Marshal A. Gurley of Belton, S.C.; one sister, Hazel G. Cushman of Belton, S.C.; ten grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Broome was preceded in death by a son, Dan Wainwright Broome. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, Charleston County Unit, 267 Calhoun St, Charleston, S.C. 29401.
