Born in Oconee County, he was a carpenter with Potts Construction Company, a U.S. Army veteran and a Baptist. Surviving are widow, Pauline Rogers Ramey of the home; daughter, Audrey R. Lanning of Salem; brothers, Jerry W. Ramey and Jim Ramey, both of Mountain Rest, Clyde Ramey of Walhalla and Robert Ramey of Mountain Rest; sister, Shirley Pearson Pifer of Walhalla; and one grandchild. He was the son of the late William David and Lula Irene Hancox Ramey. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Steve and Ernest Ramey; and two sisters, Bertha Lay and Lula Mae Ramey. Services are at 4 p.m, Sunday at Salem Baptist Church; burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Davenport Funeral Home. The body will be placed in the church at 3:30 p.m. Sunday. The family is at the home.
