Born in Walhalla, he was a retired merchant with the C. G. Jaynes Company, a member and former deacon of the Walhalla First Baptist Church, and a former member of the Walhalla Lions Club. He was the widower of Frances Cobb Abbott, and the son of the late James Sloan and Mary Josephine Abbott. Surviving are sons, Jimmy Abbott of Walhalla and Johnny Abbott of Kennesaw, Ga.; a daughter, Mary Louise Baker of Seneca; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Graveside services were at 11 a. m. Tuesday at Oconee Memorial Park, conducted by the Rev. James H. Mizell. Memorials may be made to the Walhalla First Baptist Church, P. O. Box 697, Walhalla, S. C. 29691. Davenport Funeral Home was in charge.
