Cleveland, 72, a local business and civic leader, died Friday. He was president of M. D. Cleveland Wholesale Company and Cleveland Auto Parts, Inc. He was an honorary member and past president of Westminster Rotary Club, past president and memver of Westminster Booster Club and a memver of the board of diresctors of Oconee Savings and Loan Association. He was an original member of the building committee of Oconee Memorial Hospital, first chairman of Westminster Recreational Club, foounding leader of Westminster Swimming Pool and a former advisory board member of Oconee County School System. Surviving are his widow, Hazel Duke Cleveland of the home; a son, S. C. Rep. Duke Cleveland of Westminster, Gloria Yassen of Walhalla, Marilyn, Gayle and Cheryl Cleveland, all of the home; a brother, J. B. Cleveland of Seneca; and sisters, Mrs. Alvin Jones of Westminster, Mrs. P. C. Shelton of Seneca, Mrs. John Rogers of McColl and Maude Lee Cleveland of Greenville. Services were Sunday at the chapel of Sandifer Funeral Home.
