TITLE: Thomas Gaston Hall SOURCE: Keowee Courier SUBMITTED BY: Susan Brock-Booker FORMATTED BY: Kim Grissom, Jun 2003 *********************************************************************** HALL, Dr. Thomas Gaston (1893-1973) Keowee Courier 1973, Dr. Thomas Gaston Hall, 79, of 200 Walhalla Road, Westminster, died Thursday night at Oconee Memorial Hospital. He was a native of Westminster, a son of the late Thomas Newton and Anna Gaston Hall. He was a member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church, where he was Clerk of Session for 41 years, and ruling Elder for 46 years. He was a graduate of Presbyterian College and the Medical College of Charleston. He was a practicing physician in Westminster for 50 years. He was past president of the Oconee Medical Society and a member of the South Carolina Medical Society. He was a past member of the South Carolina State Board of Health and the American Red Cross. He was also area surgeon for the Southern Railway. He served as Commissioner to the General Assembly in 1943, and served as councilman and commissioner of public works in Westminster for a number of years. He was a member of the Westminster Masonic Lodge and the Westminster Rotary Club. He was named Westminster Citizen of the Year in 1959. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Sally Jones Hall of the home; a son, Dr. Robert G. Hall of Red Springs, N. C.; a daughter, Mrs. Richard G. West of Holden, Mass.; three sisters, Misses Marie, Bess and Ann Hall, all of Westminster; six grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted at 3 p. m. Sunday at the Westminster Presbyterian Church, by the Revs. Robert Horel and C. L. Letson. Burial was in the church cemetery. Pallbearers wer Hubert Adams, Sam Dillard, Tom Ramsey, C. W. Mabery, M. D. Watkins, Raymond Williams, Henry Miller and Earl Holcombe. Honorary escort was the members of the Session of Westminster Presbyterian Church. Oconee Medical Society, also W. V. Brockman and C. D.
