Cawthon FORMATTED BY: Kim Grissom, Jun 2003 *********************************************************************** CAWTHON, Dewey Dewey Carl Cawthon, 78, of Rt. 6, the Hardyville community, died at 7:15 a.m. Tuesday in Oconee Memorial Hospital following a brief illness. Mr. Cawthon was a son of the late Cyrus and Elizabeth Kay Cawthon and was a native of Hart County, Ga. He spent most of his life in Oconee county and was a retired farmer. He was of the Baptist faith. Survivors: widow, Mrs. Ruthie Holbrooks Cawthon: five sons, Edmond and Franklin Cawthon, both of Westminster, Dewey and Tommy Lee Cawthon, both of Seneca, Charlie Cawthon of West Union; one daughter, Mrs. Margie Cates of Seneca; two brothers, Augustus Jones Cawthon of Carnesville, Ga., Thomas Watson Cawthon of Colbert, Ga., two sisters, Mrs. Chimera Crooks of Anderson and Mrs. Annie Williard of Milledgeville, Ga.; 13 grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 4 p.m. at Holly Springs Baptist Church cemetery near Westminster with the Revs. Harry Floyd and Haskell Lee officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Pallbearers: Billy Jones, Frank and Johnny Holbrook, Bramlett Moore, Carlton Lewis, Jack Crooks. The body is at Brown's Funeral Home, the family is at the home of a son, Dewey Cawthon, Friendship community, Seneca….(died May 6, 1970). Contributed by Mary L.
