TITLE: Dee "Sport" Harden SOURCE: Keowee Courier SUBMITTED BY: Susan Brock-Booker FORMATTED BY: Kim Grissom, Jun 2003 *********************************************************************** HARDEN, Dee "Sport" (1902-1969) Keowee Courier August 20, 1969, Dee "Sport" Harden, 66, reident of 4471/2 College Street, died at 6:12 a.m. Wednesday at Oconee Memorial Hospital, following ten days of serious illness. Mr. Harden retired in 1960 from Liberty Life Insurance Co. He was a native of Mt. Rest and the son of the late Edward and Margaret Rowland Harden. He was a member of Chicopee Methodist Church ad the Order of the Redman. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Alice Harden, of the home, and one son, Gaston "Buck" Harden of Walhalla. Three brothers, M. L. Harden, Sr., and Boone Harden of West Union, and L. V. Harden of Walhalla. Three sisters, Mrs. Lizzie Smith of Westminster, Mrs. Bennie Fletcher, Santa Ana, Calif., and Mrs. Frances Choates, Asheville, N. C., and two grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 3 p. m. on Thursday at Davenport Funeral Home with burial in West View Cemetery. The body is at Davenport Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 7-9 p. m. Wednesday.
