Abbott, Florence Rankin 
(1892-1966) Keowee Courier Mrs. Florence Rankin Abbott, 72, of Seneca, 
wife of L. D. Abbott Sr., died at Oconee Memorial Hospital Thursday 
after an illness of several days. Native of Oconee county, daughter of 
the late William E. and Annette Kelly Rankin, she lived in the 
Tamassee area during her youth and in the Seneca area for the past 50 
years and was a member of Seneca Presbyterian Church. Surviving in 
addition to her husband are four sons, John W. Abbott of Seneca, 
Wallace W. Abbott of Morristown, Tenn., Dr. Louis H. Abbott of Seneca 
and Clarence A. Abbott of Athens, Ga.; a daughter, Mrs. Evelyn A. 
Bryson of Richmond, Va.; a brother, Walter Rankin of Seneca and eight 
grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted Saturday at Seneca 
Presbyterian Church by Rev. J. Allen Johnson. Burial was in Mountain
