ABBOTT, Jay Dawson 
(1886-1965) Keowee Courier October 2, 1963, Jay Dorson Abbott, 76, of 
Seneca, died early Saturday morning at Oconee Memorial Hospital after 
a few hours of illness. He was a son of the late John J. and Eliza 
Mauldin Abbott and was a native of Oconee county. Until his retirement
10 years ago, he was employed as a pipefitter. He was a member of 
Seneca Lodge 185, AFM, the Seneca American Legion Post and Shiloh 
Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Sallie Timms Abbott; two 
brothers, W. W. Abbott of Seneca and Lee Abbott of Spartanburg; two 
sisters, Mrs. Alex Mauldin of Seneca and Mrs. Kate Dietz of Florida. 
Funeral services were conducted Sunday at Brown Funeral Home by Rev. 
F. C. Campbell. Burial followed in Oconee Memorial Park with Masonic
