(1895-1963) Keowee Courier, Former Senecan Succumb In Ala. George M. Abbott, 69, a former resident of Seneca, died Wednesday at his home in Cullman, Ala., following several months of failing health and two weeks serious illness. Mr. Abbott was a native of Seneca, and spent his early here.(? sic) He was a son of the late John J. and Eliza Mauldin Abbott, and a retired telegraph operator. He was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Hattie Burke Abbott, of the home; three brothers, W. W. Abbott, J. D. Abbott, of Seneca, and Lee Abbott, of Inman; two sisters, Mrs. Alex Mauldin, of Seneca, and Mrs. Ernest Dietz, of Tarpin, Fla. Funeral services were conducted in Cullman Friday, and burial was in the church cemetery there.
