Abbott Dies Here Jim Sloan Abbott, 90, retired farmer, died at his home on the Walhalla-Westminster Highway Saturday following several months of declining health and three days of serious illness. Mr. Abbott was a lifelong resident of the Coneross section of Oconee county, a son of the late Rev. Wilburn Abbott and Louise Alexander Abbott, both pioneer residents of this area. He was the oldest living member of Coneross Baptist church. His wife, Mrs. Mary Josephine Julian Abbott, died in July 1958. Surviving are two sons, J. C. Abbott and E. E. Abbott, both of Walhalla; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; three brothers, Bert B. Abbott, of Seneca, and the Rev. H. T. Abbott of Springfield, Ill., and D. S. Abbott, Sr. of Seneca; three sisters, Mrs. Sallie Cox, of Walhalla, Miss Annie Abbott, of Seneca, and Mrs. Mertie Isbell, of Seneca. Funeral services were held Sunday fro the chapel of Davenport Funeral Home with the Rev. W. S. Cromer, Jr. and Dr. N. Eugene Mandrell officiating. Burial followed in the Coneross Baptist church cemetery. Pallbearers: J. F. Bearden, W. D. Broome, J. D. Addis, John Powe, F. J. Smith and Lee Winchester. The escort of honor was the composed of J. B. Todd, Ansel Fricks, George M. Barnette, Jr., Calvin Westmoreland, N. H. Jenkins, Andrew Gillespie, J. E. Vaughn, Howard Shirley and members of the Men's Bible Class of Coneross Baptist Church.
