(1900-1961) Keowee Courier April 26, 1961, Cantrell Rites Are Conducted, Funeral services for Charlie J. Cantrell who died last Tuesday, were held Thursday at Brown Funeral Home with the Rev. R. B. Littleton and the Rev. V. W. Prince officiating. Burial followed in Oconee Memorial Park. Mr. Cantrell was a son of Mrs. Josie Sanders Cantrell of Salem and the late Joe S. Cantrell. For 25 years he was associated with the Wigington Saw and equipment Co., and for five years with the Seneca Postal Department with whom he was employed when he became ill. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mimzie Abercrombie Cantrell; five sons, Earle Cantrell of Pendleton, Ralph Cantrell of Clarksburg, West Virginia, Ray Cantrell of Onkster, Mich., Lester Cantrell and Bruce Cantrell both of Seneca; three daughters, Mrs. Max Allen of Anderson, Miss Edna Cantrell and Miss June Cantrell of the home; two brothers, J. S. Cantrell of Detroit, Mich., and George Cantrell of Santa Anna, Calif.; two sisters, Mrs. Broadus Bolding of Pickens and Mrs. Eula Mae Rigdon of Salem; fourteen grandchildren. Pallbearers: Perry Field, Harry Gillespie, Harry Smith, Ernest F. Lewis, Fred Shealy, W. T. Stevenson. Honorary escort: Oscar Wigington, Homer Griffith, Crawford Nicholson, J. C. Harbin, George Hamby, H. M. McAlister, Ralph Sorrells, J. E. Owens, John O. Fields, Jr., F. C. Ayers, and members of the Seneca post office staff. Seneca Masonic Lodge 185 had charge of the graveside rites.
