Holbrooks Thursday at Old Liberty Baptist church by Rev. Bennie B. Hare, Rev. Taylor Burton and Rev. Dial Jacks. Burial was in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were Paris Weaver, Winfred, Floyd, Charlie and Noah Holbrooks, and Willis Crumpton. Mr. Holbrooks was born June 11, 1898, in Macon county, N. C., but spent most of his life in Oconee county. He was a farmer by occupation. His wife, Mrs. Laura Hudson Holbrooks, preceded him to the grave Feb. 28, 1960. Survivors include two sons, Joshua McKinley Holbrooks, Jr., of Westminster, and Elijah Harold Holbrooks, of Madison; six daughters, Mrs. Aszelia Pelfrey, of Westminster, Mrs. Bertha Long, Mrs. Loranzea Norris, both of Madison, Mrs. Julia Rudiseal, of Toccoa, Ga., Mrs. Thelma Welch, of Clayton, Ga., Mrs. Clara Webb, of Madison; five brothers, Posey Holbrooks, of Madison, Joe and Luther Holbrooks, of Toccoa, Ga., Jess and Andrew Holbrooks, of Mr. Airy, Ga., a foster brother, Fred Crumpton, of Toccoa, Ga.; two sisters, Mrs. Lillie Weaver, of Clayton, Ga., and Mrs. Rosa Walters, of Madison.
