Mrs. Mary Jane Burns Nix, 68, of the Cross Roads community near Westminster, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Geneva Brown Sunday morning. She had been in declining health several years and seriously ill three weeks. Mrs. Nix was a lifelong resident of Oconee County, a daughter of the late Thomas and Emma Patterson Burns. She was a member of the Return Baptist church and a member of the WMS of the church. Surviving besides her husband are 6 sons, Thomas Nix of Westminster, David and Joseph Nix, both of Seneca, Stephen Nix of Greenville, Clifton and James Nix, both of Seneca; 3 daughters, Mrs. Geneva Brown, Mrs. Della Little of Westminster and Miss Ruth Nix all of Westminster; 4 brothers, Lum Burns of Townville, Dewey, Joe, and Wayne Burns, all of Seneca; 2 sisters, Mrs. Dora Burns of Townville, and Mrs. Rosie Nix of Seneca; 23 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted at Return Baptist Church Monday by the Rev. S. T. Dickson, the Rev. M. J. Stansell and the Rev. Claude Landreth. Burial was in the adjoining cemetery. Grandsons were pallbearers. Sandifer Funeral Home was in charge. (Mrs. Mary Jane Burns Nix died on April 20, 1958). Contributed by Mary L.
